Botswana Ash (Pty) Ltd began operating in April 1991. The Company produces Soda Ash and Salt. It was established at a cost of P736 million, with an additional P100 million investment in supporting infrastructure in the form of Sowa township. All the activities of the mine are undertaken at Sowa – from production through to marketing and sales and administration.
The primary market for Soda Ash is South Africa, where most of the products are used in the glass industry. Other uses are in various metallurgical applications and paper manufacture. Current production capacity of the mine is 300 000 tonnes per annum.
Different kinds of Salt are produced. Like Soda Ash, the Salt products are sold within the continent. Our production capacity is over 700 000 tonnes per annum. Click for details>>
